Zhang, Yan-Jie

Zhang Yanjie received her Ph.D. in history from Peking University, and published her first monograph, based on her dissertation, The Promise of a Moral Monarchy: Study on Dante’s Political Ideas in the Perspective of Historical Characters in Dante’s Works in 2011. She currently teaches college English, western dance history and western cultural history at Beijing Dance Academy, and has published several articles on Western ballet history. Her primary research interest is the cultural history of the court ballet in 15th -16th Renaissance Italy, especially the relationship between the court ballet and humanists’ ideas.
